Rentals at The AVO are currently paused due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. There has been no official timeline released by the State as to when large gatherings will be permitted at performing arts venues. Please consult the State's website for information and to track re-openings.
The AVO Playhouse is available for rentals year-round and is an ideal venue for any type of event from corporate meetings or lectures to full production Broadway musicals. The AVO is a fully-equipped performance venue (lighting and sound systems) with a 385 seat auditorium, an elevated stage, and back stage dressing rooms with restrooms. The AVO also features a concession bar area and large restrooms in the lobby. Built in 1948 as a neighborhood movie house, the AVO Playhouse was purchased by the City of Vista and elegantly restored to accommodate live performances in 1995. Annually, over forty thousand people are entertained at the AVO. Several dance companies and children's theatre organizations grace the stage regularly.
The AVO is also a community service facility hosting city-sponsored gatherings, social service organization meetings, and school graduations. Rental rates are affordable and include a facilities supervisor and access to all of the available in-house equipment. Additional technical and front-of-house staff is also available through the City of Vista’s Cultural Arts Department.
The first step is to determine whether the facility is available for your desired dates. Call or email our office at 760.643.5297, email. If your dates are available, a rental application will be provided to you.
Once the rental application has been completed and submitted, the fee category will be determined and the facility use will be finalized. Our Rentals Office will work with you through the application process to determine the necessary staffing and scheduling for your event. Our ticketing service, VisTix, provides for all event ticketing needs. VisTix provides renters with an over-the-counter service Mon - Fri, noon - 5 pm, as well as ticket purchases over the phone, online at my.moonlightstage.com, and at the venue at the event.
